Fall is such a curious season — it appears and disappears within the space of just a few scant weeks. The concept of a fall wardrobe abstract and could encompass so many items: summer-weight dresses rendered in rustic colors, warm wooly hats and mittens meant for shivery nights. It’s a fun and frustrating game to play. I wouldn’t give up New England falls for anything…though I do sometimes miss seeing the golden Aspens out in Colorado.

The late fall is always a time of change for me and this year is no different. After 3 years in my awesome apartment I’m moving to a new place. It’s smaller. It has fewer closets. But it has natural light and an amazing view. In NYC that kind of tradeoff is worth it. So these are the last few shots in my current place.

This dress hits every bullet point of fall for me. It’s got the tweedy bottom that suggests colder weather to come, while the colorful silk top portion remembers the summer days we just lost to early sunsets. I love winter but I miss the long summer days. All I can do is enjoy the few weeks of fall when a chilly electricity sends sparks through the air.

What’s your favorite fall item?
