A flag for each of the fallen. Battery Park, NYC, September 2011.

A flag in Battery Park today for each of the victims of 9/11. From afar they look like American flags in inverse until you get close and realize each stripe contains names in a small font. There were so many names to fit. What is normally a peaceful morning walk with my dog turned into a march through thousands of lost souls. You can almost hear their voices. Nearly every patch of green in the park supported a flag, with more forming a ring around any available grass. I will never forget.
